Sparks flew at the first and only run-off debate between Governor Edwards and Eddie Rispone. Governor Edwards defended the bipartisan criminal justice reform passed under his administration, while Rispone tore into it as a failed law.

The debate came amidst a background of an increasingly competitive campaign with recent polls showing the two neck and neck. A survey released today by My People Vote poll gives Governor Edwards just over 50 percent support, while Eddie Rispone is right behind him at 47 percent. Only three percent of likely voters surveyed were still undecided.  political analyst Ed Chervenak says that means the race is going to come down to who can inspire their voters to show up on November 16th.

The survey polled likely voters, who Chervenak says are more likely to have made up their mind than the average registered voter.

President Trump will be in Monroe Wednesday, November sixth to support GOP gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone. The rally will begin at 7 PM at the Monroe Civic Center. ULM Poli Sci Professor Joshua Stockley says the President’s visit falls during the middle of early voting

Monroe is in the 5th Congressional district, which is represented by Congressman Ralph Abraham. Abraham will be in attendance.

Bundle up for Halloween tonight, cause it’s going to be a cold one. A cold front has passed through and Canadian air has dramatically dropped temperatures compared to yesterday. State Climatologist Barry Keim says by tomorrow morning, we are likely to see a light freeze across the northern parishes.
