The U-S Supreme Court has decided to hear the case of a Louisiana man who was convicted for murder on a 10-2 vote by the jury that heard his case. Louisiana law now requires unanimous jury decisions for all serious felonies. Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says it’s possible the nation’s highest court can overturn non-unanimous verdicts prior to this year…

A state lawmaker who championed having the right to vote restored to felons now wants these same individuals serve jury duty with a bill pre-filed for the upcoming legislative session. About 36,000 former felons were granted the right to vote as of March 1. But Baton Rouge Representative Ted James says they are not allowed on a jury.

James’ legislation will be debated in the legislative session that begins in April.

LSU football coach Ed Orgeron is set to receive a two-year contract extension and a 14-percent raise that will boost his annual salary to four-million dollars a year. Orgeron’s buyout will increase to 10-million dollars, but that buyout will dwindle as the months go by. The LSU Board of Supervisors will vote on Coach O’s new contract on Wednesday.
