The NFL says it would be too costly to delay the Super Bowl so that the NFC Championship game could be replayed. That’s according to a court filing made by the league in response to a lawsuit that seeks to at least replay a portion of the NFC title game, because of a controversial no-call on a pass interference penalty in the final two minutes of regulation.

On the high school level starting next academic year, private schools can play its championship games in the sports of football, basketball, baseball and softball at a venue that’s different from public schools. It ends the tradition of all state championship football games being played at the Superdome.

Lafayette authorities arrested a 17-year-old student at Comeaux High School who had a gun and what officers say was a large amount of ammunition on campus. Lafayette Police say resource officers began their investigation after learning about a potential threat to the school. Cole Ransonet was booked and charged with firearm possession in a firearm free zone.

150 dogs were seized and taken to the St. John the Baptist Animal Shelter, and the shelter is asking for volunteers and donations to help with the influx of rescues. Matt Doyle has more.
