Former President George H.W Bush’s funeral is today. His most famous line occurred at the 1988 Republican National Convention at the Superdome when he said, “Read My Lips, No New Taxes.” But LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan says two years later, Bush was pressed by Democrats to raise taxes on gas and other items, in exchange Republicans got spending cuts….

The 2019 governor’s race took a turn that blindsided many, when US Senator John Kennedy announced he would not challenge Governor Edwards. Political consultant Roy Fletcher says there’s a reason why the GOP doesn’t have a Plan B candidate.

The state fire marshal’s office is mourning the death of Barry, a 10-year-old bomb sniffing dog, who served the Lafayette and Alexandria areas….
