Scammers are out in force during the holiday season, taking advantage of those trying to donate to charity, trying to steal the information of online shoppers, and finding any way to shake down unsuspecting victims of a buck.  Your Local Security spokesperson Cassie Tolhurst says in 2017, $20,ooo was forked over to charity scams in Louisiana alone, so it’s important to validate where your donation is going.

Cut 4 (08) “…you think it is.″

Tolhurst says if you get a phone call to donate money, take the proper precautions to verify who is on the other end of the call.

Cut 5 (10) “…they will not mind.”

Tolhurst says when doing your holiday shopping, make sure to you unique passwords for each login, and if you are having trouble keeping track of them all…

Cut 6 (07) “…locked down and secure.”

There’ll be a hearing this morning in the case that’s delayed construction on a portion of the Bayou Bridge Pipeline, after owners of land in St. Martinville say crews were illegally building, clearing trees and digging up land on their 32 acre property for nearly 60 days. Louisiana Bucket Brigade Director Anne Rolfes says Bayou Bridge parent company ETP never had legal permission to enter the property.

Cut 7 (08) “…did neither.”

Several pipeline protesters who had been invited to the property by its three owners, were arrested and charged after allegedly interfering with construction efforts on the disputed land.

Rolfes, who opposes the pipeline for legal and environmental reasons, says the case could have substantial ramifications for oil companies on just how much leeway they actually have to seize private property. She says a ruling in their favor would set some of the first limits.

Cut 8 (09) “…take it.”

Construction on that portion of the pipeline has been delayed since ETP agreed to cease construction on the property pending a hearing back in September.

Rolfes says the fact that this case is in court is indicative of the vague, and lightly defined power oil companies have to seize private property in Louisiana.

Cut 9 (09) “…the permits.”

ETP said previously that they intend to push for the completion of the expropriation of the track of land.

Congressman Ralph Abraham says soybean farmers are having issues with accessing the Market Facilitation Program, originally designed to help farmers, because of the recent congestion with crop elevators.  He says the only step being take right now, is a bill that he’s pushing that alters the payment structure for the MFP.

Cut 10 (13)   “…recoup their losses.”

Abraham says at $5 million, the package to help soybean farmers he’s pushing is small in the bigger picture.

Cut 11 (12) “…passed very quickly.”

Abraham says time is of the essence as farmers are in danger of facing bankruptcy due to the issue, and he’s willing to do what it takes to get the ball rolling as fast as possible.

Cut 12 (12)   “…make this happen.”

A new study shows that food cravings can be reduced.  The intense desire to indulge in certain foods can sabotage efforts to maintain healthy eating habits and body weight.  LSU Pennington Biomedical Research Center nutritional scientist Dr. John Apolzan says one proven way to reduce cravings for a certain food is to eat it less often.

Cut 13 (07) “…not the amount.”

Apolzan says living a more active lifestyle and dropping a few pounds can also have an effect on shaving the desire for certain foods.

Cut 14 (09) “…reduce food cravings.”

Apozan says often pairing consumption with external activities can lead to cravings, so changing up routines may be your best bet.
Cut 15 (10) “…your typical activities.”

The Saints are on a 10 win streak, looking comfortably like the best team in the NFL behind the most efficient season in Drew Brees’ career, and a surging defense that’s forced 10 interceptions and 12 fumbles. With five games left in the season, the Saints could eclipse the franchise regular season win record of 13. Head Coach Sean Payton says it’s a record that kinda creeps up on you.

Cut 16 (13) “…different challenge”
And it’s been a total team effort, as the Saints special teams have cut down on the big mistakes that have haunted Payton teams of past years. Leading that effort is kicker Will Lutz who’s made a stellar 95 percent of his field goals, up from 86 percent last year. Payton says his 2016 signing was crucial.
Cut 17 (17) “smart decision”

The Saints face a resurgent Cowboys team Thursday night in Dallas. The Cowboys are on a three game win streak and are in the thick of the playoff hunt.
