A Baton Rouge man, Raheem Howard, has been cleared of charges after an officer accused him of attempted murder during a traffic stop. Matt Doyle has the story.

Tropical Storm Gordon will likely not have any long lasting effects on the state.  State Climatologist Barry Keim says Louisiana was spared by  Gordon due to two factors. As Gordon came ashore, it was further east in the cone of uncertainty, and it wasn’t as fierce as some had projected the storm to be.

Farm Bill hearings continued today on Capitol Hill, with Republicans pushing for major reforms to food stamp eligibility. North Louisiana Congressman Ralph Abraham says they’re looking to implement work mandates or 20 hour a week volunteer, and educational requirements. Abraham says employers are desperate for labor, and this is a good step towards pushing the unemployed into the workforce.
