For the coastal areas of Louisiana, Tropical Storm Gordon is now in the books with very little effect on the region.  The storm made landfall last night near the Alabama-Mississippi line.  State Climatologist Barry Keim says when it comes to monitoring the weather, better safe than sorry.

Cut 6 (07) “…was an overreaction.”

A Baton Rouge man who’d been accused of attempted murder of a police officer during a traffic stop last month has had his charges dropped by the DA. The officer says while retreating, 21-year-old Raheem Howard fired at him, but the DA says there’s just not enough evidence to back that up. Howard’s lawyer, Ron Haley, says it’s a troubling incident that needs further investigation.

Hamadeh fatally shot another man during a traffic stop in 2017. No video evidence exists of that incident.

Senator John Kennedy had a front row seat to the Judiciary Supreme Court confirmation hearing for Judge Brett Kavanagh that got a bit rowdy between the protesters and Democrats on the committee who excoriated their colleagues to refusing to release what they say are key documents about the judge. Kennedy waded in, saying the judicial selection process wasn’t the place for these kinds of fights. the Senator says in due time the Judge’s record will be scrutinized.

Cut 9 (11)  “…have discretion”

Protesters, frequently vocally interrupted the proceedings, and at one point the father of a Parkland High shooting victim approached Kavanaugh, but his handshake was rejected.
