House fires statewide have claimed 16 lives since Christmas according to State Fire Marshal Butch Browning. This morning, Baton Rouge firefighters battled a blaze that killed at least three people. Browning says space heaters are the cause of many of these fires…

The Department of the Interior has submitted a proposal to open up offshore drilling in federal waters off the coast of most of the US. This program would allow drilling outside of the zone currently restricted to the western and central Gulf of Mexico. East Baton Rouge sheriff deputies arrested a 29-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed his wife and three children with a knife. Sheriff’s office spokesperson Casey Rayborn Hicks says the victims were able to flee their attacker and get the neighbors to call 9-1-1
