Kenner Police have charged 29-year-old Kendra Wix with manslaughter in the Christmas Eve shooting death of 25-year-old Akoya Skeith. Lt. Brian McGregor says it was initially ruled an accidential shooting, but after looking at the autopsy report and talking with Wix again, detectives determined she discharged the gun….

St. James Parish authorties continue to investigate a fight that occurred during the Christmas Eve bonfire celebation on the Mississippi River levee that injured two people in what family members say was racially motivated attack. Sheriff Willy Martin Junior says they continue to question people who were there….

Five law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty during 2017 in Louisiana. That’s according to National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial fund President Craig Floyd, who says nine officers were killed in the Bayou State in 2016. Floyd says there was a decrease nationwide and he credits better communication between police and citizens and more transparency…

Four of the officers killed in Louisiana in 2016 died from gunfire and one was killed in a traffic accident.

One person was killed and another person crtically injured in a firey two-vehicle crash on Louisiana 174 in DeSoto Parish. Master Trooper Glenn Younger says they have yet to identify the victim and because of the condition of the vehicles, they have yet to determine if alcohol played a factor…
