The LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health has been awarded a $2.2 million grant to increase the availability of health information and support services for young breast cancer survivors in the Gulf South. Project Coordinator Helen McMillan says they were one of seven sites awarded grants from the CDC…

McMillan says the issues facing young women who diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 45 are much different from older women who are diagnosed. She says this program will provide support services and resources for these women…

McMillan says information and resources can be found on their website, survivedat-dot-org. She says they have partnered with the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Nursing to provide resources to breast cancer survivors in those states as well. McMillan says everyone is excited about receiving this grant…

Louisiana’s 2014 tax amnesty period comes to an end in one week. Department of Revenue Deputy Secretary Jarrod Coniglio says until 11:59 PM on November 14th, those who are behind on their taxes with the state, can settle their debt without a penalty and pay only 50-percent of the interest….

Coniglio says they are not providing how much has been collected during this 30-day tax amnesty, but says there’s a lot of interest. He says this year’s amnesty program offers delinquent taxpayers an installment plan, which has been popular

The state hopes to collect 104-million dollars in back taxes and Coniglio is cautiously optimistic they’ll hit that goal. He says delinquent taxpayers or those who haven’t filed, can apply for amnesty online at l-d-r-taxamnesty-dot-com…

Bob Mann, who is currently an LSU Mass Communications Professor, says Landrieu’s message of clout and seniority in the US Senate doesn’t resonate with voters…

He says since Democrats lost control of the Senate, Landrieu lost chairmanship of the Senate Energy Committee and, with that, a lot of her clout. Mann says the senator must continue to differentiate herself from Cassidy and explain why he would be harmful to what people who have voted Democrat in the past care about. He says Landrieu also needs to appeal to women…

Mann says Landrieu would also benefit by a gaffe or a skeleton falling from the closet of Cassidy. Landrieu only received 18-percent of the white vote Tuesday night. Mann says, if Landrieu expects to defeat Cassidy in December, she’s going to have to do much better there…

Over 150,000 people are expected to be on the LSU campus Saturday for the game against the Alabama Crimson Tide and that means the region is going to see a huge economic boom this weekend. Arrigo says when these visitors come to Louisiana they take pictures and post them to social media showing all of their friends the beauty of the area and all the fun it has to offer. He says the excitement is infectious as purple and gold fans feel LSU is due for win over Bama:
