Secretary of State Tom Schedler will not provide a Presidential Commission looking into voter fraud with information that would include a voter’s social security number, mother’s maiden name and date of birth. Schedler says he received a similar request from the Department of Justice during the Obama administration…

Schedler says he told the Commission he will not allow them to play politics with Louisiana’s voter data, but they can purchase the limited public information available by law.

The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is advising the public to cool and drink plenty of water.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s office says one of their deputies was shot at around 4:30 this morning in South Monroe. The deputy was not hit and is okay, but the suspect is still on the loose. KNOE-TV reports it occurred during a traffic stop on 165 South on Ruffin Drive and two shots were fired at the deputy. We’ll have more on this story as it develops.

The Louisiana SPCA is reminding dog owners that pets and Fourth of July celebrations do not mix. Louisiana SPCA CEO Ana Zorrilla says every year animal shelters become populated with dogs that ran from their homes due to anxiety and fear from the loud noises created by fireworks. Zorrilla says pets should be kept inside during fireworks displays to keep them safe, even if they are usually outside…

Zorrilla also says dogs are less anxious when they’re tired, so give them plenty of exercise during the day.
