Each year, an estimated 10-thousand epoeple are treated or hospitalized for fireworks-related injuries.

A road construction worker has died after being hit by a vehicle while working on LA 31 near New Iberia. State Police Sgt. Jared Sandifer says the investigation is ongoing to determine if charges should be filed against the driver, 88-year-old Allen Olivier of St. Martinsville.

The DOTD worker killed has been identified as 63-year-old Paul Featherston of New Iberia.

This fourth of July will be a hot and muggy summer days. State Climatologist Barry Keim says there will be minimal cloud coverage and a low chance of rain, so outdoor Fourth of July festivities should not be interrupted, unless you need to head inside for a break from the hot weather….
