State Police say a 63-year-old woman from Rayville died when she ran a stop sign and hit an 18-wheeler head on near Oak Ridge. They say Shirley Nobles was not wearing a seatbelt when she turned into the path of the mac truck Thursday and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Louisiana State Police says a man from Florida is behind bars here now after a large quantity of drugs were found in his car during a traffic stop on I-12 near Hammond. They say 41-year-old Alexander Pesante of Orlando had more than 14 pounds of coacaine in his vehicle and over a pound of marijuana. He was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
