Governor-elect John Bel Edwards continues to put together his transition teams ahead of his inauguration on January 11th. The higher education transition committee is tasked with coming up with policy recommendations for colleges and universities. CABLE President Barry Erwin says they need to find extra funds for grants and scholarships, but that won’t be easy..:

Edwards announced Friday a third transition committee, this one dealing with Economic Development.

It looks as though a pretty stiff competition is brewing in the race to be Louisiana’s next Speaker of the House. Edwards says he’s backing New Orlreans Democratic state Representative Wal Leger. A group of statewide conservatives are working hard to get support for Republican state Representative Cameron Henry to lead the lower chamber. The election occurs January 11th.

A jury in Ouachita Parish handed down a guilty verdict to the man accused of shooting at two Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents in May. 32-year-old Sgt. Scott Bullitt was shot while on patrol by 29-year-old Luke Hust. LDWF spokesman Adam Einck says the jury handed down the guilty verdict to Hust in just 4 hours…:
