After some unseasonably warm temperatures over the Thanksgiving holiday, cooler temperatures are in store for the Bayou State. State Climatologist Barry Keim says a cold front moved through the state Tuesday, bringing cooler air for the next few days. He says frontal overrunning weather conditions are affecting much of the state today….
He says you can expect clouds and scattered showers across much of the state today with temperatures mostly in the 50s. Keim says skies should begin clearing tonight, bringing chilly temperatures to Louisiana Thursday…
He says some areas of the state will see low temperatures in the 30s for the next couple of days. Keim says these cooler conditions will be short lived…

Today begins a three day qualifying period for candidates to sign up and get on the ballot for Louisiana’s March 5th Presidential Primary Election. Political Analyst Clancy Dubois says since Louisiana’s presidential primary falls a few days after “Super Tuesday,” Louisiana will not have a strong say on who the parties will nominate.
Secretary of State Tom Schedler expects most of the candidates to qualify by mail or sending a representative to his office to qualify. Dubos says the two Republican frontrunners are Donald Trump and Ben Carson and predicts that nomination process will be very competitive.
Republican Presidential candidate Marco Rubio is bringing his campaign to New Orleans today and candidate Jeb Bush began assembling a campaign team in the state soon after Gov. Bobby Jindal dropped out of the race. Dubos says we’re seeing more interest on the Republican side because that race is more closely contested.
