A flash flood watch is in affect through this evening for many areas of south Louisiana, and the National Weather Service forecasts indicates the threat of flooding could go through the rest of the weekend. And you’re out driving, the advice is…:

That’s Kevin Davis, the Director of the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security who adds several roads and low lying areas have already flooded with this slow moving weather system.

Republican Representative Jeff Thompson from Bossier City has announced he will be running for District Court Judge, Division B, in the 26th Judicial District that serves Bossier and Webster Parishes. Thompson is a 1988 graduate of Northeast Louisiana University, which is now ULM. He and his wife, and children live in Benton, Louisiana.

Two people from Raceland have been arrested for abuse of several children, including one where detectives could visibly see bruising on that child. They also learned 30 year-old Christopher Gaudet had allegedly punched the child…:

That’s LaFourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brennan Mathern says abuse charges were also given to Gaudet’s 27 year-old girlfriend, Brandy Triche. Gaudet is also charged with three counts of aggrevated rape.

A former Fork Polk soldier who was charged with knowingly engaging in child sex on the base has been sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison. Thirty nine year-old Emil Roland Rath will also have five years of supervision, and will be required to registered as a sex offender.
