According to the US Fire Administration, the average number of home fires nearly doubles on Thanksgiving as compared to any other day of the year.

About 175 families will get a chance to enjoy holiday meals all because of the efforts of a teenage boy. 14-year-old Cortland Reed collected 2,629 pounds of food at his annual food drive to be donated to the Opelousas Food Bank. Reed’s goal last year was to collect 1-thousand pounds. He says he got his inspiration after watching a television commercial about starving people in the area and wanted to help feed kids like him.

 

Former Governor Edwin Edwards is hospitalized this Thanksgiving battling pneumonia. According to his wife, Trina, the Cajun Prince was admitted Wednesday and doctors are treating him with antibiotics. Edwards biographer, Leo Honeycutt says Edwards it’s likely he’ll be out of the hospital by the end of the holiday weekend…

With Black Friday only hours away, the personal finance website WalletHub looked at which stores are having the best Black Friday deals.
