State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says it’s important to remind people of certain safety tips as they’re preparing their Thanksgiving meals. Browning says make sure that while cooking, the kitchen should never be left unattended.

The man accused of fatally stabbing his father and injuring his mother in Gretna, was arrested near Hattieburg, Mississippi. After a K-9 team was sent in, 32-year-old Ronald Pritchett was taken into custody at his home at around 3 a.m. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says the stabbing occurred after an argument over food. He says 57-year-old Renta Pritchett was stabbed in the head and is expected to survive and 58-year-old Percival Pritchett was pronounced dead at the hospital after multiple stab wounds to the chest.
