The AARP of Louisiana has released a “Video Voter Guide” which features the two candidates for governor discussing their views on policies which impact older voters. Michelle Southern reports…

Houma Police say a Wednesday afternoon shooting has left one dead and three others injured. They say a group of five men got into a fight and shots were fired. 18-year-old Corey Butler was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The three others shot fled the scene before authorities arrived. One man managed to escape uninjured. The incident remains under investigation.

Since they sent out 1.2 million warning letters to drivers, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles collected just over $2 million dollars in car insurance lapse fines. Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon criticized the debt collection notices saying a large portion of these notifications were sent to people who moved out of state or sold their cars and State Police Col Mike Edmonson says that’s why he’s extended OMV hours and is working with the public…

Donelon says this is an unfair way the state is trying to plug a hole in the budget.

The Board of Regents will ask the new governor and legislature for an additional 636-million dollars for the state’s public colleges and universities next fiscal year to help meet the state’s workforce demands. Higher education commissioner Joe Ralllo says the gubernatorial candidates say higher ed will be a priority and he hopes whoever is elected will stick to that promise…
