The BP Settlement matter is finally over as the agreement was finalized today that the oil giant will pay 5 Gulf States $20 billion dollars for the 2010 oil spill. Louisiana will be getting $6.8 billion. Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves, former state head of coastal protection, says this will have a significant impact on Louisiana’s coast…:

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre says they believe a white truck pulled up to three people in LaPlace and opened fire. One 23-year-old man died, another man is in stable condition and an 18-year-old victim is in critical condition. Tregre says their crime cameras captured an image of a vehicle described as a white four door extended cab truck.

The Thibodaux Police Department says a toddler and 17 dogs were removed from a home that was in deplorable conditions. Five people, ranging in age from 17 to 70, were arrested after officers made the discovery on various charges of animal cruelty counts and child desertion. Officers say the child and dogs were found among urine, feces, mold and rotten food throughout the home.

Minden Congressman John Fleming has thrown his support behind Metairie Representative Steve Scalise in his bid to become House Majority Leader. Politics-dot-com Publisher Jeremy Alford says the timing of this announcement is interesting since Scalise stated last week that he had enough votes secured to win the election…:
