The Man accused of killing Callie Brunett of Loranger and her three-year-old daughter admitted to the media yesterday that he did it and told them he’s been on and off Lexapro after being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Daniel Callihan says he was just released from a mental hospital two weeks ago. When asked if he regrets what he did, Callihan said “I would kill me.”

Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards said Victoria Cox has also been arrested as an accomplice to Callihan. Theu are both facing capital murder and sexual battery charges.

The Supreme Court has struck down a Trump-era ban on rapid-fire bump stocks, saying bump stocks did not fit the definition of machine guns. A bump stock is an attachment to a semi-automatic rifle that allows a rate of fire comparable to a machine gun. Republican Congressman Clay Higgins has landed a key committee assignment as the newest member of House Armed Services. The Lafayette congressman is Louisiana’s only member of House Armed Servies after Shreveport Congressman Mike Johnson had to give up his seat on the committee last year when he was elected as the first speaker from Louisiana. Incidentally, the House is set to pass its version of the 2025 defense spending bill on Friday.
