The Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish deviates from the state party in endorsing incumbent Buddy Caldwell in this year’s Attorney General’s race. Eric Gill reports…:

The latest on Tropical Storm Erika shows the storm remains unchanged for the most part with max winds of 45 miles per hour and movement toward the west. Erika will approach the Leeward Islands by late tonight and Puerto Rica during the day Thursday. Current projections show more strengtehning from the storm prior to landfall near the Miami area Monday. Forecasters are not counting it out yet whether or not the storm will get into the Gulf.

Republican David Vitter’s campaign announces they’ve started airing another ad today statewide called “The Right Team.” They say it highlights Vitter’s plan to get Louisiana out of a budget mess. The ad closes with the US Senator saying, “They say I’m annoying the politicians so I must be doing something right.”

State Police say a high-speed chase which started in Carnencro ended in Duscon with one trooper injured and four State Police units damaged. Master Trooper Brooks David says speeds exceeded 110 miles per hour with the driver running people off the road and purposely hitting patrol cars. He says the suspect vehicle exited the interstate in Duson and when the driver tried to re-enter the roadway, troopers took action…:

He says the suspect as yet unidentified suspect appeared to be highly impaired at the time of his arrest.

LSU coach Les Miles has finally named a starter at the quarterback position. It will be sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris who gets the lead over junior Anthony Jennings.
