Law enforcement around the state begin participating today in a national campaign called Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. It will last through the Labor Day weekend. State Police Sgt. Nick Manale says the goal is to catch those who are driving drunk…:

Manale says State Police and local police departments will use grant money to pay for overtime enforcement to ensure there are more patrols and DUI checkpoints.

Hurricane Danny is now a Category 2 storm but forecasters don’t think it will be this strong for much longer. National Hurricane Center forecaster Jack Beven says Danny is about to run into an area of upper level winds, which will cause it to slow down and most likely downgrade back to a tropical storm within the next couple of days…:

An arrest has been made in connection with the case of the three Covington High students who were rushed to the hospital yesterday after apparently overdosing on synthetic drugs. Two of the students were 15 and another 16.
