Hurricane Danny has been upgraded to a category three storm with maximum sustained winds at 115 miles per hour. Danny is moving west-northwest at about 10 miles per hour. Forecasters say the hurricane may weaken over the next 48 hours and possibly be downgraded to a tropical storm. They still say it’s too early to tell what Hurricane Danny’s next move is and if it will make its path through the Gulf of Mexico after passing through the Caribbean.

The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries opened the fall shrimp season this week. Fishermen are reporting good catches so far off of the Louisiana coast — but prices at the dock are about 65 percent less than last year. Louisiana Shrimp Association President Clint Guidry blames massive imports which they’ve been fighting for quite some time…:

Cops say they’ve made an arrest in connection with the three Covington High School students who were rushed to the hospital yesterday after apparent synthetic drug overdoses. Reports indicate another student, 18-year-old Caleb Badeaux was booked on a count of distribution of a scheduled narcotic to a student and one count of violation of having a controlled substance within 2,000 feet of a school. The students who overdosed were expected to be released from the hospital today.
