A tropical storm warning is in effect in Cameron Parish. National Weather Service Meteorologist Donald Jones says it’s issued as a storm which is expected to become Tropical Storm Edouard has formed in the northern Gulf of Mexico and is making its way to the Louisiana-Texas line.
As of one this afternoon, the storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 35 miles an hour, just below the tropical storm threshold; and it’s expected to make landfall near the state line sometime tomorrow.
The family of a teenager who died earlier this month in the abandoned Plaza Tower in New Orleans’ Central Business District is planning to take legal action against its owners. Seventeen-year-old Jacque St. Ann of Belle Chasse was urban exploring with a group of friends when he fell to his death inside the building on August 15th. The family’s attorney is James Williams.
A new study shows that more people are delaying their retirement until 70 years old or beyond. It’s important to note that under Social Security Administration rules, while full retirement is at age 67, the maximum benefit comes at age 70. LSU New Orleans business professor Mark Rosa says because of inflation, Social Security, 401-k’s and other investments might not be enough to make ends meet.

A legendary LSU football player from West Monroe has passed away. Former All-American Jerry Stovall has died at the age of 85. In an interview with KNOE-TV in 2009, Stovall said he was able to excel on the football field even though he was not the best athlete.
