Five people, four adults, and a juvenile have been arrested following the death of an infant in Winnfield. Jeff Palermo has the troubling details…

Two juveniles and one adult have been arrested in connection to a homicide in Vivian. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday they responded to a shooting and the male juvenile victim died at the hospital. They have arrested a 17-year-old male for second-degree murder, a 16-year-old for illegal possession of a handgun, and 20-year-old Marty Whatley faces numerous charges including aggravated assault.

Lt Governor Billy Nungesser is hopeful 2022 tourism numbers will eclipse 2021’s numbers and perhaps top a record of 53 million visitors in 2019. It’s not just the Crescent City that’s rebounding in tourism, he says they’ve seen record-breaking numbers during Mardi Gras elsewhere in the state.

If you plan to ring in the New Year with fireworks, State Fire Marshal’s spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says to light them at least 200 feet away from any structures and make sure they are completely extinguished before you dispose of them.

Rodrigue says it’s never a good idea to be impaired when using fireworks or to allow children to handle them.
