The US Supreme Court upholds tax subsidies under the Affordable Care Act, which supporters say preserves health care for thousands of Louisianians. Opponents argued subsidies should not be available in the 34 states that did not set up their own health insurance marketplace, which includes Louisiana. This is the second time the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Affordable Care Act.

Governor Bobby Jindal begins campaigning today meeting with voters in New Hampshire after joining the long list of candidates seeking the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

Monsanto announces possible plans to make a 1 billion dollar expansion to their Luling plant. The addition would produce a new product line to help with the growth of soybeans, cotton and corn. St. Charles Parish President V.J. St. Pierre says this is very exciting and Monsanto has always been a great industrial partner in the community:

He says the plant would create 95 direct, 450 indirect, and 1,000 construction jobs.

Former LSU shortstop Alex Bregman has signed with the Houston Astros. His signing bonus is reportedly around 6 million dollars. The Astros have also announced the signing of left-handed pitcher former Tiger Zac Person. Bregman was the second overall pick in the MLB draft and Person was picked in the ninth round by Houston.
