Governor Bobby Jindal officially hits the campaign trail today after his announcement Wednesday that he is seeking the Republican Presidential nomination. ULM Political Science Professor John Sutherlin says even though many people don’t believe Jindal has much of a chance at the White House, our Governor has a history of being a good campaigner…:

Sutherlin says if Jindal is competitive in the Iowa caucus and in the New Hampshire primary that could lead to a really good showing in South Carolina.

Governor Jindal and the President of Monsanto announce the company’s decision to start a preliminary investment in an expansion of its St. Charles Parish operation in Luling. The Monsanto board will make an official decision in early 2016 which could mean a potential investment of more than $1 billion dollars over the course of 3-5 years and result in 540 new jobs.

Fidelity Investments’ 2015 Couples Retirement Study finds a disconnect between couples on finances and retirement planning issues. Eric Gill reports…:

The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office says a teenager is dead after his tractor rolled off a bridge and landed on top of him. They say 17-year-old Zachary Henry of Amite was driving over a narrow wooden bridge when the tractor veered too close to the side of the bridge and broke the planks. The tractor rolled off the bridge and landed on top of Henry in a ditch. Henry was pronounced dead at the scene.
