Congressman Troy Carter says a Wind Energy Zone Designation in the gulf offshore from Louisiana is significant. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has finalized two Wind Energy Areas in the Gulf and one is off the coast of Lake Charles.

The other zone is located off the coast of Galveston, Texas, and they both have the potential to power three million homes with clean energy.

More clean energy jobs are likely coming to Louisiana. Five years ago, today Governor John Bel Edwards’ landmark legislation of Criminal Justice Reform and Justice Reinvestment went into effect. House Criminal Justice Chairman, Representative Joe Marino says, while it’s hard to tell how much the state has benefitted from the reforms, due to the pandemic, he believes it’s made a positive impact.

He says the state has saved $152 million.

The LHSAA will allow Bogalusa High School to host a football game this Friday after originally saying it would have to be moved because of a fatal shooting outside of the stadium during their homecoming game. Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette says it’s important for seniors and the team because they’re on a winning streak.
