Farmers could be seeking federal assistance soon if it doesn’t stop raining. Over a foot of rain has fallen in some areas of northeast Louisiana, which is not good for the soybean crop. The National Hurricane Center is currently tracking a tropical wave in the Eastern Caribbean Sea that has a low chance of development as it moves towards’ the Yucatan Peninsula. Closer to home, there’s a slight risk of flash flooding for southeast Louisiana. The National Weather Service says rainfall rates of three to four inches per hour are possible with the strongest thunderstorms.
