The Common Core dispute had its first hearing before a judge today. Judge Todd Hernandez heard motions involving a lawsuit filed by teachers and parents accusing Governor Jindal of violating the Louisiana Constitution when blocked tests associated with Common Core. No date was given on when Judge Hernandez will rule on the motions.

Jefferson Parish President John Young announces he’s joining the 2015 race for Lt. Governor. He joins already announced candidates Baton Rouge Mayor President Kip Holden and Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser. Young says he wants to be an ambassador for economic development and the film industry…
