An effort to legalize recreational marijuana use in Louisiana is dead for this legislative session. Mandeville Representative Richard Nelson’s legislation to tax the sale of recreational marijuana failed on a 47-48 vote. It needed 70 “yes” votes, because it’s a tax bill.
