Zeta has re-strengthened and is now a category one hurricane as it moves northwestward in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center says maximum sustained winds are at 75 miles per hour. Zeta is forecast to make landfall in southeastern Louisiana this afternoon.

Governor Edwards asks residents in southeast Louisiana to do their due diligence ahead of Zeta’s late-season arrival this afternoon. Matt Doyle has more.

Storm prep is underway in New Orleans and the city is under a voluntary evacuation order as the projected path of Zeta shows it passing over, or near the Crescent City. Mayor Latoya Cantrell says the city is no stranger to being on high alert for storms this year and residents should have a game plan in place.

We’re a week out from Election Day and a UNO poll of Louisiana voters shows President Donald Trump up 59-36 over former Vice President Joe Biden. Biden is holding a strong lead in national polling buoyed by a large number of white suburban defectors who backed Trump in 2016, but pollster Ed Chervenak says those voters aren’t shifting in Louisiana.

Tropical storm Zeta is beginning to strengthen. The 10 o’clock advisory from the National Hurricane Center indicates maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour, just a few miles below hurricane one status at 74 miles per hour. Zeta is 435 miles south of New Orleans moving northwest at 15 miles per hour and a turn to the north is expected overnight.  Zeta is forecast to make landfall Wednesday afternoon. A hurricane warning is in effect from Morgan City to the Mississippi/Alabama border.

Residents impacted by Hurricane Laura now have another month to register for FEMA disaster assistance. FEMA Spokesperson Melissa Wilkins says homeowners and renters can apply for aid which includes temporary housing, rental assistance and to repair or replace damage to property.

Zeta is 435 miles south of New Orleans moving northwest at 15 miles per hour and a turn to the north is expected overnight.  Zeta is forecast to make landfall Wednesday afternoon. A hurricane warning is in effect from Morgan City to the Mississippi/Alabama border.

Zeta is expected to be more of a wind event than a rain event, with rainfall amounts of two to four inches. State climatologist Barry Keim says a storm surge warning of two to six feet is in place for basically all southeast Louisiana.

Zeta is expected to be more of a wind event than a rain event, with rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches. State climatologist Barry Keim says a storm surge warning is in place from the Atchafalaya River to the Pearl River, basically all of southeast Louisiana, between two and six feet.

Zeta is projected to be a fast-moving storm which should help reduce the damage, however, when the storm finally passes through, John Rahaim (Ram) the Director of Emergency Preparedness for St. Bernard Parish expects a wide variety of damage to be present in the area.

Currently, Zeta is a tropical storm located approximately 410 miles south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River, with sustained winds at 65 miles per hour moving northwest at 14 miles per hour. It’s expected to be at or near Category One strength when it makes landfall Wednesday night.

Metairie native, Judge Amy Coney Barrett has been confirmed to the US Supreme Court, filling a vacancy left by the departed Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Senator John Kennedy touted the nomination saying Barrett is a judge who understands judicial restraint.

Zeta is forecast to become a hurricane again overnight and be at or near hurricane strength when it reaches the northern Gulf Coast Wednesday evening.

Zeta is forecast to become a hurricane again overnight and be at or near hurricane strength when it reaches the northern Gulf Coast late Wednesday. A hurricane warning is in effect from Morgan City to the Mississippi/Alabama border and a storm surge warning for the mouth of the Atchafalaya River to Navarre Florida.

If you haven’t applied for FEMA aid related to damage from Hurricane Laura you still have some time to register a claim, the agency has pushed the deadline back to November 27th. FEMA Spokesperson Melissa Wilkins says FEMA assistance can cover a range of expenses from housing to medical care.

The Tigers rushed for a season-high 276 yards in the win over the Gamecocks. Tyrion Davis Price had 135 yards and John Emery had 88 yards rushing. Orgeron says the plan was for both running backs to get a lot of carries
