The latest update from the National Hurricane Center has Tropical Storm Zeta 410 miles south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River, with sustained to winds at 65 miles per hour moving northwest at 14 miles per hour. Zeta is forecast to become a hurricane again overnight and be at or near hurricane strength when it reaches the northern Gulf Coast late Wednesday. A hurricane warning is in effect from Morgan City to the Mississippi/Alabama border and a storm surge warning for the mouth of the Atchafalaya River to Navarre Florida.

If you haven’t applied for FEMA aid related to damage from Hurricane Laura you still have some time to register a claim, the agency has pushed the deadline back to November 27th. FEMA Spokesperson Melissa Wilkins says FEMA assistance can cover a range of expenses from housing to medical care.

The deadline for Hurricane Delta has been extended to December 15th.

Southeast Louisiana is on alert as Tropical Storm Zeta is expected to make landfall tomorrow night as a category 1 hurricane. John Rahaim (Ram) the Director of Emergency Preparedness for St. Bernard Parish says they are bracing for winds up to 90 miles per hour tomorrow night…

St. Bernard is not the only parish prepping to Zeta, Lieutenant Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says due to the expected high winds he’s encouraging residents to tie down any loose furniture around their home.

Zeta is expected to be more of a wind event than a rain event, with rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches. Strom surge in Louisiana is expected to be between four and six feet.
