The state is reporting two deaths from Hurricane Delta. Governor John Bel Edwards says an 86-year-old St. Martin Parish man died in a fire after he allegedly refueled a generator while it was still hot. And the state health department says a 70-year-old female in Iberia Parish died in a fire likely caused by a natural gas leak following damage from Hurricane Delta.

An 11-year-old took a school bus on a joy ride through north Baton Rouge Sunday morning. Matt Doyle has the story.

In Washington Parish, a senior at Pine High School will be allowed to repaint a picture of President Donald Trump in his assigned parking spot after the school board had the painting covered up. Attorney Yigal Bander says the superintendent was concerned the painting would create controversy, but he says the real controversy started when the picture was painted over with grey paint…

The painting is part of the school system’s Senior Paint Your Space” program and it received initial approval from the principal at Pine High School.

An 11-year-old was arrested and booked into juvenile detention after starting up an unattended school bus and taking it for a 13 mile joyride through north Baton Rouge. The bus hit three vehicles, caused one minor injury before it crashed into a tree and a gas line in the city of Central. Baton Rouge Police Sergeant L’Jean McKneely says thankfully the kid didn’t do a whole lot of damage.

A Pearl River priest was arrested and removed from ministry after being caught having a late-night orgy on top of his church’s altar. A witness captured video of the incident allegedly involving the half-naked priest and two women in corsets and heels being filmed, stage lights included, using sex toys on the altar. The former priest, 37-year-old Travis Clark, and the dominatrices, 41-year-old Mindy Dixon and 23-year-old Melissa Cheng were charged with obscenity.

US Senate Judiciary hearings on the nomination of Metairie native and Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court seat vacated by Ruth Bader Ginsburg began today. Democrats have raised concerns that Republicans on the committee have refused to take a COVID test and disclose the results before entering the committee, but Senator John Kennedy, who sits on the committee, says if they don’t have to be there in person if they don’t feel safe.

Homeowners who suffered damage from Hurricane Laura and Delta will not have to pay two different “Named Storm Deductibles.” Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says most homeowner policies require a deductible for each event, but that’s not the case if the damage is from two named storms in the same season.
If you suffered damage from Laura and have yet to pay your deductible, Donelon says you are still on the hook for whatever remains of your deductible before you can start collecting assistance.

The LSU football team has a 1-2 record for the first time since 1994 after getting upset at Missouri in a game that featured very little defense. The Bayou Bengals gave up 586 yards of total offense as Mizzou pulled off the 45-41 upset.
LSU Quarterback Myles Brennan continues to improve as he threw for 430 yards and four touchdowns. But the Tigers were 0-for-10 on third down and failed to score a game winning touchdown from the one yard line. Brennan says you can’t put all of the blame on the defense

Governor Edwards says an 86-year-old man in St. Martin Parish passed away from a fire that was sparked shortly after he attempted to refuel his generator. Generators were the single biggest individual cause of death post-Laura. Edwards says to make sure it doesn’t happen to you keep them 20 feet from your home.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting that left one victim dead and another person critical on the WestBank in Gretna.
Police say two people were shot Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of Oakwood Center at 197 Westbank Expressway. Police say based on the investigation two groups of people met up, a fight started and multiple shots were fired.
Two people were found inside of a Black Honda Accord with gun shot wounds.
The driver of the car was brought to University Hospital and the passenger of the car was announced dead on the scene.
