President Trumps is scheduled to visit Louisiana next Tuesday, highlighting job growth of the energy sector in Cameron Parish and to tour a shipping facility that uses trains to bring in liquefied natural gas for export overseas. Cameron Parish Assistant Administrator Darrell Williams says the latest jobs numbers in the parish have reflected positively upon the LNG industry.

CenLA Law enforcement believes there are women out there who were held captive by a man identified as 56-year-old Justin Walters of Colfax. Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain says Walters moved to Grant Parish in 2014 from Rapides and has an extensive criminal history that started in 2010. The sheriff believes there are more victims out there and encourages them to come forward.

A St. Mary parish Councilman was arrested and booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on stalking and narcotics charges. 50-year-old James Bennet was arrested earlier this year for stalking, but Berwick Police say he continued to stalk the same victim even after the initial arrest, which led to a warrant for search of his apartment, and the seizure of steroids and electronic devices.

The state senate has approved legislation that would ban abortions when a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is five-to-six weeks into a pregnancy. Shreveport Senator John Milkovich says if his legislation gets the governor’s signature it will not immediately go into effect…

Over 700 measles cases have been reported in 22 states. So far, Louisiana has been spared. Assistant state health officer Doctor Joseph Kanter says of those national measles cases, over 72-percent were unvaccinated, which means some people who did get the vaccination are still coming down with the measles…

Measles were considered eliminated in 2000. Kanter says myths that vaccinations are tied to autism.

President Trump will visit a liquefied natural gas export facility in Cameron Parish next Tuesday to highlight his administration’s efforts to grow energy jobs. The president will tour Sempra Energy’s 10-billion dollar Cameron LNG Export Facility. Last month, the president issued a couple of executive orders that roll back regulations on energy production and promote fossil fuel development.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban will be on the Grambling State campus today for an event called “A Town Hall with Coach Nick Saban.” It’s part of the celebration to commemorate the 100th birthday of the late and legendary Grambling Coach Eddie Robinson.

A bill to abolish the death penalty in the state met its demise on the Senate floor, despite the argument from New Orleans Senator JP Morrell who says the death sentence in Louisiana has had a history of multiple exonerations over the years.

New Orleans Senator JP Morrell spoke in favor of the amendment, and says in order for death to be an option, the government must be infallible in its decision on who is executed.

Grambling Sports Information Director Brian Howard says the museum has previously honored Saban with the Eddie G. Robinson award, named after the legendary Grambling coach.

Robinson is regarded as one of the greatest college coaches of all time, having turned a small, Historically Black University into a wildly successful program at a time when most southern college teams were white only.

Howard says Saban was honored to be invited to speak at Robinson’s 100th anniversary event.

Robinson ran the organization from 1941, when he was only 22-year-old, to his retirement in 1997. He passed away in 2007.

Tickets are still available at GSUTigers.com, running at 100 bucks a pop. Howard says it’s a real deal to have the opportunity to see a living legend in person.
