The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man has been arrested for allegedly running over and killing his brother with his vehicle early this morning. 30-year-old Stephen Hebert is charged with negligent homicide and DWI in the death of the victim, 32-year-old Kirk Hebert. Investigators say Stephen Hebert was semi-conscious in the driver’s seat of his Dodge truck with his brother, Kirk, pinned under the rear driver’s side tire. He told cops they’d both been drinking.

An Oklahoma man has been arrested in Lafayette for allegedly breaking into a woman’s home and sexually assaulting her then demanding she drive him to an ATM. Cpl. Karl Ratcliff with the Lafayette Police Department says detectives were able to receive surveillance video showing that 22-year-old Devon Bell was the suspect they were looking for…:

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with negligent homicide after his brother was found dead pinned underneath the wheel of a truck. They say investigators arrived on the scene in a parking lot to find 30-year-old Stephen Hebert half-conscious in the drivers seat of a vehicle, and his brother, 32-year-old Kirk Hebert dead below the truck. Stephen Hebert said he last remembers the victim being in the front seat, and they’d been drinking.

Grambling State will play in Chicago on Saturday as they take on Clark Atlanta. Senior quarterback DeVante Kincade is listed as day-to-day with a lower leg injury. Grambling has moved up one spot to 21 in the STATS FCS Top 25 poll.

McNeese State is ranked 25th in the FCS Coaches poll. The Cowboys visit Stephen F Austin on Saturday. The Lumberjacks are off to a 2-0 start in league play.

Also in the Southland this weekend….Southeastern Louisiana visits Northwestern State. Both teams are looking for their first win in league play and Nicholls is at Lamar. The Colonels looking to rebound after a blowout loss to Sam Houston State.

Baton Rouge Representative Ted James says fellow House member Kenny Havard is wrong to suggest that the state should stop providing tax dollars to the Saints because some players refused to stand during the national anthem. He hopes this is just grandstanding, but suspects Havard is not alone with this sentiment:

Havard said he doesn’t feel the Saints deserve rewards if the players aren’t going to be appreciative.

There are at least two restaurants which say they are no longer going to broadcast future NFL games because of the protests. They are Sarita’s Grill and Cantina in Denham Springs which says the programming will be barred until further notices. WOW Cafe & Wingery of St. Bernard in Chalmette also said on social media that decided to turn the Saints Panthers game off on Sunday because some players chose to sit during the anthem.

The Violence Policy Center says a new report shows that Louisiana ranks in the top five for women who are murdered by men. It found that in 2015, the state has the third highest rate in the country. Executive director of the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Mariah Wineski, says state and federal law prohibit many abusers from possessing firearms, but Louisiana lacks any consistent process for actually implementing these prohibitions..:

25th ranked LSU continues preparations today for its final non-conference game of the year as the Tigers will host Troy on Saturday night.
