The biggest impact for the Bayou State is rainfall. Six to 15 inches of rain could fall in southwest Louisiana between now and Thursday morning. North Louisiana could see 1 to 2 inches, central Louisiana two to six inches.

Flooding is a concern in southwest Louisiana as rain bands from Hurricane Harvey are expected to whip across that part of the state over the next few days. Rebecca Broussard is the director of homeland security and emergency preparedness in Vermilion Parish….

The Saints defense had eight sacks last week in a win over the Chargers, but that was agaisnt backup quarterbacks. Tonight, New Orleans will face first round pick and former Clemson QB Deshaun Watson. Brees said earlier this week that Watson is as talented as they come.

The two teams have practiced against each other during the week and tonight they’ll play an exhibition game, starting at 7 PM.

LSU says its monitorning the weather situation in Houston as Hurricane Harvey dumps torrential rains over southeast Texas. The National Hurricane Center says catastrophic flooding is expected over the next few days. The Tigers are scheduled to play BYU in the season opener next Saturday in NRG Stadium. The Advocate reports ESPN is in charge of rescheduling the game if massive flooding prevents a Saturday night kickoff.

BYU will kickoff its regular season today at 2 PM. The Cougars will play Portland State. BYU starts the year earlier, because they are playing 13 regular season games as a result of a road contest to Hawaii.

There’s a big day of football at Malone Stadium in Monroe today as four games will be played as part of the Bayou Jamb. The first game is at one o’ clock as the defending champs in Class Two-A, Sterlington faces St. Frederick. The action concludes at 7 PM with two powerhouse programs, West Monroe versus Neville.

Hurricane Harvey has weakened to a Category One Storm as it moves farther inland over southeastern Texas. It made landfall last night at around 10 PM near Corpus Christi as a Category Four storm with winds in excess of 130 miles per hour. The potential for 6 to 15 inches of rain still exists in southwest Louisiana over the next several days.

Harvey is now a major hurricane closing in on the Texas coast and growing in strength. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the National Hurricane Center has Harvey meandering inland in Texas over the weekend but then shifting towards Louisiana.

Rice farmers are bracing for Harvey, which experts say could damage the remaining crop. LSU AgCenter rice specialist Dustin Harrel says this year’s crop was already subpar, and flooding could cause additional problems with the new crop.

On Saturday, American Humane will show off a new animal rescue vehicle in Walker. President and CEO Robin Ganzert says the 50-foot truck carries equipment and supplies. It can also shelter up to 100 pets and house emergency responders.

Willhite says they posted the video on YouTube and it went viral instantly….

Here we ago again, could it be, another LSU game impacted by weather. The Tigers are scheduled to play BYU next Saturday at NRG Stadium in Houston. But Hurricane Harvey might have other ideas. The National Hurricane Center says it’s possible Harvey can dump 40 inches of rain in Texas. LSU says they are monitoring the situation and the game is still on for now.

LSU lost a game last year, because of Hurricane Matthew. The Tigers were scheduled to play Florida that weekend, but the game was moved to a later in the year and the Tigers were forced to drop a non-conference game so they could play Florida.

In 2015, LSU’s season opener in McNeese State ended in the first quarter after a lengthy lighting delay.

BYU will play its opener tomorrow afternoon. The Cougars are able to play 13 games this year, because visit Hawaii later in the year, so BYU kicks-off against Portland State tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM.
