LSU Coach Les Miles says he understands what the Gamecocks are going through after LSU had to move a scheduled home game against Arizona State to Tempe in 2005 because of Hurricane Katrina.

Three of the four major gubernatorial candidates will participate in a debate tonight in Baton Rouge. Democrat John Bel Edwards and Republicans Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle will face off in a forum hosted by WVLA-TV and Fox 44. Republican Senator David Vitter will not be in attendance. The debate begins at 7PM and will air on TV stations across the state and online at brproud.com.

ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says Edwards is sending a strong message…

Donna says they were advised to end the pregnancy after it was discovered the unborn child had spina bifida. The commercial features family photos that include pictures from Edwards’ time in the Army. Stockley says this is a way for Edwards to remind voters of his background…

In a statement from F. King Alexander, he says students have the right to learn in an environment free of sexual harassment and verbal abuse. Cope says they’re not talking about the guilt or innocence of the teacher, just the process by which she was fired.

Alexander says LSU firmly supports tenure but when the rare exception occurs, action must be taken to prevent the continuation of the damaging and counterproductive environments. Cope says the censure is a signal from the academic community that Alexander isn’t providing the kind of leadership needed at LSU.

South Carolina is expected to fly into Baton Rouge on Friday for the game in Tiger Stadium.

Meanwhile the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness says they are sending emergency management personnel to South Carolina to work with officials there in making damage assessments. GOHSEP says their employees have the experience needed when it comes to disasters like this and they stand ready to help whenever needed.

The Saints have signed punter Brandon Fields as a result of an injury to Thomas Morstead. Fields punted for eight seasons in Miami and made the Pro Bowl team in 2013. The Saints are also reportedly looking at kickers after Zach Hocker missed a 30-yard field goal against the Cowboys. The Saints have reportedly worked out Kyle Brindza. who was just released by Tampa Bay.

The entire ULM football team was at memorial service of quarterback Daniel Fitzwater who died suddenly on Saturday at the age of 20. Fitzwater was a walk-on quarterback. ULM Coach Todd Berry says it appears Fitzwalker died of natural causes, but it’s hard for the players to comprehend…

South Carolina University announces their game with LSU will not be played in Columbia as originally scheduled, but instead they will come to Baton Rouge. The exact details regarding time, TV and tickets are still in the works and are expected to be released soon. During the SEC coaches teleconference this morning, Gamecock Coach Steve Spurrier said in light of the catastrophic flooding, whatever decision was made needed to be one that was right for the community of Columbia…:

The game will be considered a South Carolina home game, with the Gamecocks collecting ticket and concession revenue while reimbursing LSU for the cost of its expenses.

South Carolina has announced that their LSU home game will in fact be played in Baton Rouge on Saturday. The time and TV is to be announced. LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette says this will be treated like a scheduled home game as much as possible with season ticket holders getting first dibs:

We should finally know for sure today whether or not the LSU South Carolina game will be played in Columbia. South Carolina Coach Steve Spurrier said during the SEC coaches teleconference this morning that they want to do whatever is best for their community when it comes to where the game will be held. He added that he’s been told they will know something by this afternoon. LSU Coach Les Miles said he is not getting involved in where the game will be played. He said it’s South Carolina’s home game and they will support them in any way.

Bossier City Police say a man arrested on a cruelty to a juvenile charge after critically injuring his infant daughter now faces a murder charge. Authorities allege that 27-year-old Sean Christopher Morton injured his 3-month-old while trying to get the baby to stop crying. Hospital officials say the child suffered injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome. The infant died. Morton now faces a charge of second degree murder.

State Police say a head-on collision on I-55 near Hammond has claimed the life of one. They say 53-year-old Donna James of Macon, Mississippi was traveling the wrong way on the interstate when she collided head-on with a pickup truck. James, who was not restrained, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The crash investigation is ongoing.
October, November and December are the peak months where drivers are most likely to collide with deer because of mating and hunting season. State Farm Spokesperson Roszell Gadson advises drivers to always pay attention while on the road and limit distractions while driving…

Their survey finds the odds of a motorist in Louisiana colliding with a deer at 1 in 335.

Breakfast items at McDonald’s are now available 24 hours a day. LSU Marketing Professor Dan Rice says it’s a positive PR move by McDonald’s for listening to what the customers want, after recently having a bad reputation doing that….

With mating and hunting season upon us, we’re now in the peak months where drivers are most likely to collide with deer. State Farm Spokesperson Roszell Gadson says Louisiana ranked number 41st in the country for car crashes involving deer and that could be for a variety of reasons…
