The other two teams in the Baton Rouge regional are UNC-Wilmington and Tulane. That game is scheduled for a 7PM Friday night start. If the Green Wave and LSU win on Friday, they’ll face each other on Saturday night.

The Ragin Cajuns received an automatic bid after winning the Sun Belt Tournament and they’ll battle Rice, the Conference USA regular season champion, Friday afternoon in the Houston Regional. Cajuns Coach Tony Robichaux says getting into the tournament again is quite a feat considering how much talent they lost from last year’s super regional team…

Houston and Southland Conference Tournament champion, Houston Baptist, are the other two teams in the regional. The winner of the Houston Regional will face the winner of the Baton Rouge Regional in the Super Regional round.

In the majors, Baltimore scored two in the bottom of the seventh to sneak past Houston 4-3. The Rangers defeated Cleveland 10-8. And the Dodgers doubled up the Braves 6-3.

Fox News will host the debate in August and the network requires contenders to be in the top 10 in an average of five national polls leading up to the event. The state Department of Transportation continues to gather feedback from motorists on how I-10 through the Baton Rouge area should be improved. People can go online to i10br-dot-com and take a 21 question survey through the end of the month. DOTD Spokesperson Rodney Mallett says more than 6,000 people have taken the survey thus far, but would like to see those numbers climb…

Mallet says the results of the survey will be revealed in August. He says the survey is just one part of gathering people’s input on what should be done to the I-10 corridor…

According to data from the federal government, the average price for a pound of ground beef in March was $4.20, up almost 14-percent from 2014. LSU AgCenter Economist Ross Pruitt says it all comes down to how much beef is available…

Eleven-thousand American flags have been placed along Huey Long’s grave and the state capitol steps. Each flag represents a Louisiana solider who died in combat. The Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana, which is an organiziation of mothers who have children that served in the armed forces, are the ones who put the flags there. Joining the Tigers in the Baton Rouge Regional will be Lehigh, Tulane, and UNC Wilmington. LSU will face Lehigh, the Patriot League champion, Friday at 3PM. The Mountain Hawks come into the regional with a 25-29 overall record. The Green Wave will take on the Seahawks, the Colonial Athletic Association tournament champions, Friday night at seven.

Disappointment in Hammond as Southeastern Louisiana failed to make the 64-team tournament field.

In college softball, the number eight LSU Tigers scored four in the first inning yesterday and fended off several rallies to defeat the sixteenth ranked Arizona Wildcats 10-5 to win their Super Regional and advance to the Women’s College World Series. This is the Tigers’ fourth ever berth in the World Series and they will face Auburn Thursday at 1:30 in Oklahoma City.

School Officials say a Ouachita Parish High School student-athlete died in a swimming accident in Arkansas over the weekend. They say Kenton Norman was with his family in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas when he drowned trying to swim to an inflatable trampoline in a lake. Norman was a freshman last season on the Ouachita Lions football team.

In the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers take a three games to none lead over the Atlanta Hawks after a 114-111 overtime win last night. LeBron James lead the way for the Cavs with a triple-double; 37 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists. Former Louisiana Tech standout Paul Milsaps scored 22 for the Hawks in a losing effort. Game four of this series is tomorrow night.

State Police say a crash in Iberville Parish has killed one and seriously injured another. They say an SUV, driven by 31-year-old King Ellis of Jeanerette, was driving in the wrong lane on US 90 when he collided with a truck driven by 18-year-old Jordan Prince of Loreauville. Prince, a recent Loreauville High School graduate, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ellis was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries. Authorities say impairment on the part of Ellis is suspected.

This is Hurricane Preparedness Week and state officials want you to take time to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.
