Baton Rouge Police say the infant child of murder victim Brittney Mills has died. Authorities say Brenton Mills passed away at a local hospital Friday. Doctors rushed to deliver the baby after Brittney Mills, who was 8 months pregnant, was shot and killed on April 24th. It is reported that former LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins plans to take a paternity test to learn if he was the father of the child. Collins, who has not been named a suspect, is scheduled to meet with police Monday about the case.

Clay Higgins says Gordon became extremely ill after allegedly being injected with a drug cocktail prepared by 29-year-old Jessica Stelly. He says then, instead of calling 9-1-1, Stelly called 27-year-old Stephan Godeaux and 34-year-old Gene Dunbar…

Rounds two and three of the NFL Draft were held last night and the New Orleans Saints came away with three new players. In the second round, the Saints selected outside linebacker Hau’oli Kikaha from the University of Washington. Kikaha had 19 sacks last season while earning first team All-Pac-12 and first team All-American honors. The Black & Gold got two selections in the third round. They first selected quarterback Garrett Grayson from Colorado State. Grayson was named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2014. The Saints wrapped up the night by taking cornerback P.J. Williams of Florida State. The draft wraps up with rounds four through seven today.

A couple of former LSU Tigers got their name called last night at the NFL Draft. Cornerback Jalen Collins was picked up by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round. The third round saw defensive end Danielle Hunter go to the Minnesota Vikings.

The number one ranked LSU Tigers rolled past Mississippi State last night 11-4. Shortstop Alex Bregman and third baseman Conner Hale combined for six RBIs to guide LSU to their 40th win of the season. The series wraps up this afternoon at 3 and you can watch on ESPN2.

Tulane upset number 20 Houston 3-1. The win puts the Green Wave, along with the Cougars, in a five way tie for first place in the American Athletic Conference. Game two of the three game series is today at 2 at Turchin Stadium.

In the Sun Belt Conference, Appalachian State broke U-L Lafayette’s seven game winning streak with a 2-1 victory over the Ragin Cajuns. ULM took game one of their three game series against Troy 4-2.

In the Southland, Abilene Christian upended UNO 8-6; Nicholls State squeezed past Houston Baptist 2-1; McNeese State edged Stephen F. Austin 9-8; league leader Southeastern Louisiana blanked Lamar 6-0; and Northwestern State fell to Notre Dame 4-1.

Three weeks are in the books for the current legislative session and many say lawmakers are still not close to finding a solution to the state’s $1.6 billion dollar budget shortfall. Scott Carwile reports…:

Alford adds the first tax to be on the move this session which is the cigarette tax may get its second House committee hearing on Monday. 32 additional cents a pack passed out of the House Ways and Means by an 11-5 vote to match Mississippi’s rate of 68 cents per pack. The legislation which originally sought a tax of $1.45 is on the docket for House Appropriations next.

A federal judge in Washington has ruled the US Government is liable for some of the Hurricane Katrina flooding. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that three people have been arrested in connection with the overdose death of 26-year-old Lance Gordon. Lt. Clay Higgins says they believe 29-year-old Jessica Stelly injected the victim with a drug cocktail when he became very sick. He says the woman didn’t get help but instead dropped him off with the assistance of two other men. He calls Gordon’s death a terrible loss of a young life and their hearts go out to his family…:

Authorities said the body of a boater who disappeared Monday has been found. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says it located 24-year-old Allen Fitzgerald of Prairieville. Fitzgerald went missing when his boat sank Monday night on Bayou Manchac. His boat was found Wednesday afternoon on the Amite River.

Former LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins did not get selected in the NFL Draft last night. Baton Rouge Police want to interview Collins about the shooting death of 29-year-old Brittney Mills. Although Collins is not considered a suspect in this case, the situation apparently raised enough concern that he was not drafted last night.

State Police Troop I had to deal with yet another high speed chase on I-10 when this morning a Texas man drove off in a stolen vehicle after being stopped east of Lake Charles. They say 32-year-old Alfred Wells led troopers on a 27 minute long pursuit and was seen throwing drugs from the vehicle. He was eventually stopped in Acadia Parish then booked into the Calcasieu Parish jail on many charges including possession of stolen things, possession of crack cocaine, reckless operation, aggravated flight from an officer.

It took 14 innings for LSU to secure a 5-3 victory over Mississippi State last night. Third baseman Conner Hale’s two run double in the top of the 14th sealed the game for the Tigers. The win marks coach Paul Mainieri’s 400th career victory at LSU. These two teams will take the field again tonight at 7. It will be televised on ESPNU.

Also this weekend, Louisiana Tech hosts a three game Conference USA series against Texas-San Antonio.

In the Southland Conference, UNO hosts Abilene Christian, Nicholls State has a three-game home stand against Houston Baptist, Lamar is in Hammond to face Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin takes on McNeese State, and Northwestern State travels to South Bend, Indiana to meet Notre Dame.

In Sun Belt action, UL-Lafayette looks to extend its seven game winning streak when they travel to Appalachian State and ULM hosts Troy.
