It’s been a month and a day since Ed Orgeron took over as LSU’s head football coach. He’s getting his team ready to play top ranked Alabama on November 5th. Orgeron spoke before the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club and says the Tigers have enough depth to go toe-to-toe with the unbeaten Crimson Tide.

ULM Football coach Matt Viator plans to start redshirt freshman Will Collins at quarterback again this Saturday at Arkansas State. Collins failed to complete a pass in seven attempts in the loss to New Mexico. Caleb Evans played much better as he was 12 of 15 for 120 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Southeastern Louisiana Coach Ron Roberts is not sure if Quarterback Justin Alo will play this Saturday against 18th ranked Central Arkansas. If he can’t play, D’Shai Landor will start for a second straight week. The Lions are on a three-game winning streak heading into Saturday’s big home game.

The Saints returned to practice today to get ready for Sunday’s home game against Seattle. The Seahawks have one of the best pass defenses in the league, which should make for an interesting match-up as they go up against Drew Brees. Seattle has struggled to run the football as they miss the retired Marshawn Lynch.

A new regular season starts tonight for the Pelicans. The Pels Anthony Davis is set to begin his fifth season in the NBA. He’ll be joined this year by first round pick Buddy Hield, who was selected sixth overall in last June’s NBA draft. Davis says Hield will face an adjustment period…

In the World Series opener last night, the Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago Cubs 6-0. The Game 1 winner has taken the title in the last six Series and 17 of 19. Game two’s start time tonight has been moved up an hour to 6pm due to rain in the forecast.

The Saints defense has struggled this season, a big reason why New Orleans is 2-and-4 on the year. But maybe they’ll have a good game this Sunday when they host the Seahawks. Seattle has scored 111 points in six games, which is tied with the Chicago Bears for the fewest in the NFL. Kick-off is at noon.

LSU running back Leonard Fournette has certainly turned his attention to Alabama, as he said in an interview on SEC Now during a game of “Fact or Fiction” that it was a fact the Tigers are going to beat the Crimson Tide. Fournette is coming off a record setting performance against Ole Miss Saturday night.

Meanwhile, an angry Reverend who is an Alabama football fan reportedly believes a Crimson Tide beat reporter should be beaten with a bat for suggesting LSU might be a true contender in the November 5th game. The reporter tweeted the message from the man of the cloth which said “Do you think that any jury in Alabama would convict an Alabama fan if they took a ball bat and beat the crap out of you?” In the article the writer suggests LSU is finding their groove just in time for the Bama game.

Tomorrow night the Pelicans tip-off the NBA season by hosting the Denver Nuggets. The Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas has set the Pels over-under win total at 36.5, which would not be good enough to make the Western Conference Playoffs.

Louisiana Tech heads into Saturday’s home against Rice with a 5-3 record, 3-and-1 in Conference USA. The Bulldogs lead the West Division and will host an Owls team that has only one win on the year. Tech Coach Skip Holtz says they can’t let up…

And Michael Casagrande of the Birmingham News, Press-Register and Huntsville Times, says he’s been verbally threatened on twitter by a reverend after he suggested that LSU has a chance to beat the Crimson Tide on November fifth.

There are signs that Saints cornerback Delvin Breaux is getting closer to returning to action. Breaux broke his fibula in the season opener and since then he’s been drinking a lot of milk in the hopes returning sooner than later. Breaux says he tested his leg out during defensive back drills and is waiting for the team’s medical staff to allow him to return to practice on a full-time basis. New Orleans hosts Seattle this Sunday.

Louisiana Tech is getting ready to play Rice this Saturday at Joe Aillet Stadium. The Owls won their first game of the season last week as they defeated Prairie View A-and-M 65-44. Bulldogs Coach Skip Holtz says the Owls show a lot of different looks on offense and they snap the ball quick…

LSU running back Leonard Fournette was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week. After missing the last two games, the New Orleans native rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries.

There’s been some who have suggested that Fournette should just sit out the rest of the season, so he doesn’t risk a serious injury that could impact his future NFL career. Fournette says he wanted to be on the field with his teammates…
Cut 18 (20) “working out”
Ten penalties and two turnovers kept the Saints from winning on the road yesterday as they dropped a 27-21 contest to the Kansas City Chiefs.
