The investigation continues in East Baton Rouge Parish into the stabbing and strangling of a sex offender in Zachary. Authorities found 47-year-old Robert Noce’s body in a plastic drum. Noce was serving probation for a sex crime involving a child. A 21-year-old man and 17-year-old woman -have been charged in his murder. The woman is listed in court documents as one of Doce’s victims.

An online portal to accept comments from the public about Common Core has been set up by the State Department of Education. Lake Charles Rep. Brett Geymann helped set it up, and – as part of the review process- he says the new governor, legislature and BESE will have a say on what changes could be made…

The State Department of Education has set up an online portal to accept comments from the public about Common Core. This is part of the extensive review process of the controversial English and math standards. Lake Charles Representative Brett Geymann, who helped set up this public comment period, says this lets anybody have their say:

Several media outlets are reporting the man who was previously convicted of second-degree murder in the death and dismemberment of Bourbon Street dancer Jaren Lockhart, is getting life in prison. Terry Speaks was last seen leaving a club in New Orleans with the victim along with another woman, Margaret Sanchez, before cops believe the two cut Lockhart up and threw the remains in the Gulf. Sanchez’s trial date has been set for December 7th.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man shot and killed his 7-year-old daughter, then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder/suicide. Sheriff Doug Anderson says they got a 911 call around 8:50pm Wednesday evening in reference to two bodies laying in a field in the Vick area…:

Members of our Congressional Delegation say the Army is expected to announce today that Fort Polk will have 358 troops cut as part of the 40,000 troop reduction nationwide. The Vernon Parish military base currently has 81-hundred troops stationed and it’s located in the district of U-S Representative John Fleming. He says Fort Polk and the surrounding area has worked hard to stave off any troop reductions:

Plus he says troops shouldn’t be cut at a time when our country is so threatened by ISIS.

The Manning Passing Academy — now in its 11th year at Nicholls — once again takes over the Thibodaux campus with 1,200 campers and 120 coaches beginning today and ending on Sunday. The success and admiration of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning in both college football and the NFL has lead the camp in becoming a national event.

Fontenot shot at a moving truck in 2012. One of the bullets killed Austin Rivault and two other teens were also wounded. He got manslaughter and two counts of aggravated battery with a max 40 year sentence, got 3 but had all but 13 months suspended.

They say 21-year-old Jace Crehan and 17-year-old Brittany Monk were booked on counts of second-degree murder. 47-year-old Robert Noce was stabbed several times and strangled to death two weeks after he began serving probation for a sex crime involving a young child. Authorities won’t say if the killing was connected to Noce’s conviction in the sex crime.

The DA in Lafayette Parish is going to appeal the 13 month prison sentence of Seth Fontenot for killing a 15-year-old. Fontenot got manslaughter and two counts of aggravated battery and had all but the 13 months of his sentence suspended. District Attorney Keith Stutes says that’s not enough…:

A man from Allen Parish was electrocuted Wednesday while he was trying to steal copper wires from electric utility poles according to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office. After a “man down” call came in, deputies and emergency officials say they arrived on scene and discovred 51-year-old Jesse Jones of Reeves unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Three alleged accomplices are arrested on theft charges.

The University of Louisiana System has approved tuition and fee increases at their four-year universities. The highest increase is at UL Lafayette, 20-percent. U-L System President Doctor Sandra Woodley says the hikes took into consideration how many students at a particular school received the TOPS scholarship and other factors..:

It’s official. New Orleans Pelicans star power forward Anthony Davis has signed his five-year, $145 million dollar contract extension. The extension agreement starts season after next, so he’s under contract with the Pels for the next six years. This is reportedly the most lucrative contract in NBA history.

The Executive Director of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association said in a recent radio interview that he is livid over the situation with the referees demanding more money. Eddie Bonine asserts the Louisiana High School Officials Association is not following its bylaws and is not a sanctioned subgroup that the LHSAA can negotiate with. If an agreement between the two sides is not made by the beginning of the school year, all high school sports are in jeopardy.

LSU’s starting lineup for the Southeastern Conference Media Days is complete. We’ll have more on who’s going to Hoover after this.

LSU’s sophomore running back Leonard Fournette, junior middle linebacker Kendell Beckwith and senior right tackle Vadal Alexander are scheduled to accompany LSU coach Les Miles to SEC Media Days next week in Hoover, Alabama. LSU’s session will be Thursday.

Tulane University and the University of North Carolina have agreed to a three-game series in men’s basketball. The Green Wave will play at Chapel hill during the upcoming season and again 2017-2018, then Tulane hosts the Tar Heels in 2016-2017.

The mother of a Baton Rouge teenager was arrested today after officers found her son severely malnourished. 49-year-old Rose Holland is charged with 2nd degree cruelty to a juvenile and drug charges. BRPD Cpl. Don Coppola says officers found the child when responding to a noise complaint.

State Police are seeking help from the public, as they look for a man wanted for the injuring of a Trooper during a traffic stop June 30th in Rapides Parish. The FBI is looking for Louisiana victims that’s part of a nationwide “sextortion” case, where a Florida man tricked hundreds of underaged girls to perform sex acts on camera. FBI Special Agent Mike Anderson says 31-year-old Lucas Michael Chansler of Florida has been sentenced to 105 years in prison, and now they’re ready to help those who were hurt…
