The University of Louisiana System has approved tuition and fee increases at their four-year universities. The highest increase is at UL Lafayette, 20-percent. U-L System President Doctor Sandra Woodley says the hikes took into consideration how many students at a particular school received the TOPS scholarship and other factors..:

The increases are permitted under the GRAD Act. All campuses will receive at least some increase according to ULS leaders.

The National Right to Life convention begins a three day conference in New Orleans today that will feature Republican presidential hopefuls including Governor Bobby Jindal who will make an appearance tonight.

The State Department of Education has launched a website which will allow parents, teachers and anyone to share their thoughts on Common Core state standards. It’s a portal which is part of a compromise reached in the last session by both opponents and supporters of the English languare arts and math standards.
