No short-term solutions from lawmakers today to avoid massive cuts to higher ed, as they met at the higher education conference in Baton Rouge. Public colleges could receive a 400 million-dollar cut in state funding. as the state is facing a 1-point-six billion dollar deficit for the fiscal year that starts July first.
