There’s apparently mixed signals coming out on whether New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu will run for governor. Jeff Palermo has the story…

State Police say two motorists were killed in an early Sunday morning crash in Assumption Parish. Authorities say a truck, driven by 51-year-old Lester Albarado of Pierre Part, crossed the center line in a turn and struck a pickup driven by 57-year-old Gabriel Plaisance, also of Pierre Part. Neither man was wearing a seat belt and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

BESE President Chas Roemer will not comply with Governor Jindal’s executive order concerning Common Core exams. The governor has issued an executive order that calls on BESE to have an alternate test for those students who opt-out of the Common Core exam. But Roemer says Jindal doesn’t have the constitutional authority to do that and he accuses the governor of creating chaos…

Some families are opting out from having their child take the Common Core-aligned tests because they believe it’s harmful to their children.

LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center launches an initiative that will provide doctors in Louisiana with proven strategies which would reduce and treat obesity in children. Project lead Dr. Amanda Staiano says Louisiana ranks near the top of obesity prevalence even in preschoolers…
