Former St. Tammany Sheriff Jack Strain is now facing federal charges for getting kickbacks after awarding a contract worth over a million dollars. U.S. Attorney Peter Strasser says a relative of Strain’s got money out of the deal and Strain himself would receive regular cash payments of around $1000.  Strasser says they were tipped off about the activity.

Strain is also facing sexual misconduct allegations.

AAA says nationally 939 deaths were recorded from running red lights in 2017 a 10 year high. AAA spokesperson Don Redman.

Redman says although 85% of those polled said running a red light is dangerous many admit they do so.

RAVE is costing the state four million dollars

Baton Rouge-based Epic Piping is making a 2-million dollar investment in one of the state’s poorest cities. The company is opening a fabrication facility in Lake Providence. Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson says the new location will help the company meet its international customer’s needs.
