A Concordia Parish Sheriff’s deputy was shot today at an apartment complex in Vidalia. The suspect has been in a standoff with authorities for most of the day. The wounded deputy has been identified as Walker Mackel and the Concordia Sheriff’s office says they are receiving positive updates on him.

Louisiana Department of Health will begin enforcing the state’s new crawfish and shrimp labeling law approved by the legislature after a heavy push from the state’s seafood industry.
