A father is in jail after admitting to striking his two-month-old child several times in the back of the head, resulting in his death.  Welsh Police Chief Marcus Crochet says the suspect did not a previous criminal history. Crochet says it is rare that an event like this happens in the town and it has left the Jefferson Davis Parish community shaken.

The suspect is charged with manslaughter and is being held at the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.

The Diocese of Alexandria released the names of three additional clergy against whom there have been credible allegations of sexual abuse of minors. Evidence for all three were presented to the Permanent Review Board and the allegations were deemed credible. The Diocese of Alexandria pledges to provide updates to the list of credibly accused clergy as new information becomes available. They hope these updates provide healing and closure and show their commitment to transparency and accountability.

 

A poll is out and making the rounds in major statewide media showing President Trump’s support in Louisiana is cratering, but U-L Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says there’s serious reason to doubt the poll’s accuracy.

The poll by Verne Kennedy claims a margin of error of 4.1 percent.

Louisiana Humane Society Director Jeff Dorson wants to remind pet owners not to leave animals in cars unattended as it only takes a few minutes for the heat to cause organ failure and kill an animal.

It’s already hot this summer with some areas of the state already hitting triple digits. State climatologists are predicting higher than normal temps this summer for the state.
