Governor Edwards is calling for three televised debates against his GOP gubernatorial rivals sometime after the 1st of September. UL Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says the Democratic governor is clearly confident in his record, and isn’t planning on playing defense.

The Louisiana Public Service Commission will host a meeting tomorrow in Baton Rouge with telephone companies to talk about an influx in “robo-calls.” Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell says some of these calls are fraudulent and want to steal information. In Ruston The Monroe Newstar is reporting that two people are dead after a tornado ripped thru the Louisiana Tech Campus early this morning. The two fatalities have not yet been identified and classes have been canceled for the day. Rushton Mayor Ronny Walker says most of the damage occurred along Tech Drive and the cypress Springs subdivision south of Interstate 20.
